One of the many reasons why people prefer ceramic tile is because it is durable, beautiful, and requires very little maintenance. Avoid Grout Sealer Types Containing Acid

There are many things that homeowners do that will harm their beautiful ceramic tile floors. Ceramic floors do not like abrasive powders or steel wool for cleaning. Another product that you would not want to use on a ceramic floor is anything that contains acid. Acid can easily destroyed the grout and the finish of the tile.

Even though water is used as the principal liquid when cleaning tile floors you do not want to allow the water to sit on the floor for a long period of time. Ceramic tiles are waterproof but the subfloor may not be. Never use ammonia or bleach to clean your ceramic floor. These products will discolor the grout.

Many homeowners who install ceramic tile floors me wonder whether the grout needs to be sealed. There are two types of grout used for the majority of ceramic tiles. One is a cementitious -based product and the other is an epoxy type product. If you choose the former grout product, cementitious, you will be required to apply a regular sealer.
