Floor Covering Installations by Builders’ Floors
Often when you think of pre-finished hard wood the consumer believes that this floor covering is an engineered or laminated floor constructed out of veneers of different wood with a veneer fabricated as the top surface.
That is not always the case.
Solid Wood Floor Covering can be installed already stained and coated with Polyurethane
This makes the job of installation easier for the consumer as they don’t have to vacate’ the premises to get away from the strong smell of urethane finishes done on the typical “sand and finish” hardwood floors. Sand and finish floors are sanded and stained and coated with two coats of polyurethane as a wear surface ordinarily.
A pre-finished hard wood floor is still that 3/4 inch solid floor but it has been stained and heat-set with many coats of polyurethane and also coated with aluminum oxide which insures a much better wear surface than the sand and finish floors.
You might have gone into a home being constructed and the wood installers were there. If you have, you have seen them sanding, staining and coating the floors in a procedure that can allow dust into the finished floor covering. They then put a second coat application of polyurethane without that hardening factor of aluminum oxide.
Solid Pre-finished Hard wood Floor Covering can also be hand scraped at the factory.’
This makes for a distinctive rustic look and eliminates the worries of “scratching your floor covering as it already has marks to enhance the beauty of the wood.
